Explore the Incredible Arts Scene

Foo Foo Festival is a 12-day celebration of Pensacola’s thriving arts scene featuring culturally creative happenings across the city. Kicking off October 31, the diverse programming showcases incredible talents across a range of disciplines, from eclectic local theater and curated exhibitions to live music and tasty coastal cuisine. “The festival allows locals and visitors alike to immerse themselves in our already thriving arts community and introduces them to once-in-a-lifetime events that our nonprofit organizations can do with the help of Foo Foo and its grant program.” says Vice President of Destination Development for Visit Pensacola and 2024 Foo Foo Festival Curator Nicole Stacey.

This year’s events will feature presentations by organizations such as Choral Society of Pensacola, Fiesta Pensacola, PenArts and the University of West Florida Historic Trust among others. Other can’t-miss highlights surrounding Foo Foo Festival include the Blue Angels Air Show, Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival, Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival, Pensacola Eggfest and so much more.

For those looking to immerse themselves in the city’s rich cultural offerings, there’s no shortage of places to explore. The historic Saenger Theatre, Pensacola Opera and Vinyl Music Hall are hot spots for the musically inclined. And art enthusiasts have plenty of inspired places to check out, from the Pensacola Museum of Art and First City Art Center to numerous downtown galleries. And the warm, welcoming vibe of the city makes these sophisticated destinations approachable for everyone.

Immerse Yourself in History

A vibrant city with an old soul, Pensacola’s roots date as far back as 1559. And over the centuries, many different cultures have thrived in the city, cultivating a strong sense of community pride for this historic locale. The diverse influences can be uncovered firsthand by exploring the city’s architecture, cuisine and culture-focused destinations, including institutions like the National Naval Aviation Museum and the Pensacola Lighthouse. History buffs can get lost in Belmont-DeVilliers district, an official stop on the Mississippi Blues Trail, celebrating the deep influences of the African American community on the area’s culinary and musical legacy.

Experience the Best Way to Beach

There’s a good reason why Pensacola is a go-to beach destination — the beautiful waters set off by miles of pristine white-sand beaches make the most idyllic setting to unplug and unwind. And with plenty of public beach access, there’s no shortage of go-to spots for lounging with friends or family, splashing in the waves and soaking up the sun. The best part? The fun doesn’t end on the beach.

There are countless ways to enjoy the incredible natural beauty. Here, fishing is a lifestyle, and visitors can enjoy a relaxing afternoon casting from shore or book a Gulf charter to partake in a deep-sea fishing excursion. There are also plenty of opportunities to sail, surf or meet the area’s most popular residents, the playful dolphins. The Florida Panhandle Shipwreck Trail offers a unique scuba adventure, including artificial reefs like the world-famous USS Oriskany, serving as underwater archaeological sites.

Find True Respite in Nature

If you’re looking for a little more seclusion, the area’s many trails make it easy to explore the beauty of the surrounding beaches, bayous, dunes and marshlands that are teeming with wildlife. The Gulf Islands National Seashore are federally protected national parklands, which create a spectacular natural playground for camping, hiking or casting a line. For more aquatically-inclined adventure seekers, there’s an abundance of serene on-the-water activities like sailing or paddling. The opportunities for outdoor recreation or enjoying a little solitude are endless.

“Pensacola’s natural beauty offers visitors a calming and at-their-own-pace experience, especially during events like the Foo Foo Festival,” says Stacey. “Our pristine beaches and vibrant downtown provide a unique escape, attracting people long after the summer months.
