Not only does a little kindness go a long way, it never goes out of style. And if there’s someone who knows both sides of this sentiment better than most, it’s without a doubt Monica Lewinsky. Acclaimed in every facet of her career, the activist, writer, host of the Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky podcast and the face of Reformation’s viral “You’ve Got the Power” campaign continues to prove her impact is more than your average cultural figure. Simply put, she’s an icon. Recently, Lewinsky joined forces with the beloved homegoods gurus at Flamingo Estate to create Blossoming Camellia, a new limited-edition candle with all proceeds going toward organizations supporting the wellbeing and mental health of youth across the globe.

“Monica and I first met at a workshop retreat where everyone needed to share things and talk about themselves,” says Flamingo Estate Founder Richard Christiansen. “We eventually got to know each other and then became close friends. I fell madly in love with her curiosity, resilience and wicked sense of humor. I’m really inspired by her enthusiasm for life and making it better for everyone.”

The final product is a very elegant and special scent, blooming with notes of white camellia, lemon, vanilla and clove. Ahead of the looming holiday season, we pinged Lewinsky for a brief chat to detail this exciting and unexpected new collaboration, share some of her current go-to self-care practices and to offer a piece of simple advice as we close out 2025.

What was the creative process like shaping this candle with Flamingo Estate?

Richard and the entire Flamingo Estate team were so wonderful to collaborate with. That the candle is blossoming camellia came about both serendipitously and poignantly. When I first texted Richard the idea, he was writing about camellias and how they bloom in their own time and even in the dark. And that felt so appropriate and in alignment with how we are always wanting to help support people who are experiencing or have experienced any type of bullying.

Can you share how this amazing collaboration is benefiting the work of the incredible organizations involved?

After finalizing the collaboration direction, I asked if a portion of the proceeds could go to help some bullying prevention organizations with whom I work. Richard said, “No. ALL the proceeds.” The Tyler Clementi Foundation, Hetrick Martin Institute, the Diana Award and PROJECT ROCKIT are all extraordinary organizations run by compassionate people dedicated to helping young people. I’ve been encouraging all of my friends to do their holiday shopping early to help these organizations even more.

In this moment, what’s empowering you most to continue speaking up for others and what you believe in?

There is so much pain and suffering in the world right now. And as a sensitive person, I feel it on many levels. I feel blessed to have a roof over my head, food on the table, money in the bank and people who love me. Not everyone does. Helping to ease others’ suffering is a privilege. It’s one I do not take for granted.

What hobbies or self-care practices are currently keeping you grounded?

I’m trying to remember to move my body outdoors a bit more — that idea that a 10-minute walk around the block can reset my whole nervous system. Besides that, spending time with friends and hot ritualized baths have been at the top of my list. Also, laughter. I’ve been putting extra effort into embracing humor on my Instagram stories because I know we all could always use a little laugh these days.

What are some of your other Flamingo Estate faves?

How much space do we have? I am obsessed with the Heirloom Tomato candle and the Manuka Honey Collection. The Spicy Strawberry Fruit Snacks? No notes. And, and, and…

Do you have any advice for the remainder of 2025?

Just. Keep. Breathing.
