The classic style of the home incorporates natural white oak hardwood flooring and a neutral color palette throughout the main and upper levels. Traditional elements such as coffered ceilings in the great room and extensive wainscotting and crown molding add distinct sophistication, and Benjamin Moore paint finishes brighten each space.

State-of-the-art features include Pella Reserve double-hung windows with integrated Rolscreen technology, a hidden-from-view speaker system built into the sheetrock ceiling of the main kitchen, remote-controlled shades in the great room and in-floor radiant heat and infrared heaters in the screen porch. An oak tree excavated from the property was salvaged to create the fireplace mantel in the screen porch and a table in the recreation room.

Design and furniture selections encourage the young owners to embrace a well-loved home including high-performance fabrics and furnishings, Dash & Albert rugs, Vicostone quartz countertops, heirloom quality Faribault Woolen Mill Co. blankets and plenty of built-in storage. Many spaces in the home inspire family time like the upstairs reading nook, a recreation room with a handcrafted shuffleboard table by McClure Tables and a bonus room with a hidden area that can be accessed by tipping the spine of children’s classic, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Visit Mark D. Williams’ 2021 Artisan Home the weekend of June 25–27 from 12 to 6 p.m.
