A primary suite should do more than just impress — it should be the ultimate sanctuary for personal restoration. For a lovely pair of longtime clients, LiLu Interiors recently transformed a Lake Minnetonka abode’s principal bedroom into a reimagined suite of rooms that honors 27 years of living with a graceful openness to everything that is set to come next.

“Our client wanted to use their primary suite in a different way as they have matured in this home,” shares LiLu’s Owner and Principal Designer Lisa Peck. “We decided to craft a rejuvenating sitting room away from the active household where our clients could read, enjoy the view and spend quality time with one another.”
Anchored with finishings and furnishings donned in serene shades of light blue, the reimagined and ASID award-winning room is a remarkable study in finding quiet amongst the busyness of daily life. Floral textures in the watercolor-inspired wallpaper and a set of chairs nestled by the fireplace offer a feeling of tranquility, with other geometric patterns providing a sense of play throughout the space.
The new ceiling trim was added as a repeated detail to reflect existing elements in the elegant fireplace mantel and the distinctive crown molding. Large hardware was selected to bring a bit of refined drama to the doors of the newly constructed built-in. “We designed the built-in to balance the fireplace and to create a spot to display family photos and travel memories,” notes Peck.
Walk through the charming French doors to the extended porch where generous natural light abounds from the surrounding windows, creating a bright retreat for unhurried conversation or a simple moment of calm. The showstopping chandelier completes the space, adding a layer of whimsy.
LiLu Interiors’ mindful approach always captures a unique understanding of how to connect everything someone values with how they want to live. This completed project successfully reenvisioned the way a primary suite can offer effortless joy in everyday living.
