What inspired you to launch your firm 14 years ago?

Launching Interior Impressions stemmed from my passion for creating spaces that truly reflect the personality and lifestyle of my clients. As an interior designer,  I am inspired by the idea of transforming ordinary spaces into extraordinary ones and enhancing the way people live and interact within their environments by helping them love their homes.

What types of design services does Interior Impressions offer?

At Interior Impressions, we offer a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. We love working with clients who are building new homes or doing major renovations. We also work with homeowners on smaller scale projects, like interior design consultations, space planning, furniture selection, lighting design, custom cabinetry, millwork, project management and more. Our goal is to provide a seamless and enjoyable experience, from concept development to final installation.

What factors should be considered when choosing a design firm?

Clients should consider several factors. First, they should look for a firm with a strong portfolio that showcases a diverse range of styles and projects. Additionally, they should consider the firm’s reputation, level of expertise, communication style and ability to understand and execute their vision within the specified budget and timeline.

Where do you find inspiration for your work?

Inspiration for my work can be found everywhere, from nature and art to travel and even everyday life. I’m constantly seeking out new experiences and ideas that I can incorporate into my designs, whether it’s a vibrant color palette, a unique texture or an unexpected architectural detail.

Which part of the design process is most rewarding for you?

The most rewarding part of the design process is seeing the transformation of a space and the joy it brings to my clients. There’s nothing quite like witnessing the excitement and satisfaction on people’s faces when they see their dreams come to life in a beautifully designed environment.

What’s your favorite design trend at the moment?

Vintage! Incorporating reclaimed or repurposed materials into a design scheme adds character, history and a sense of authenticity to a space. Whether it’s salvaged wood beams, light fixtures or antique hardware, these elements bring a unique charm and warmth to any interior. These pieces can add a sense of timelessness and depth, creating visual interest and inviting conversation. Not to mention, using vintage materials is a sustainable choice, as it reduces the demand for new resources and minimizes waste.

Do you have advice for those looking to renovate their home?

When renovating a home, homeowners should prioritize investing in quality pieces that will stand the test of time. This includes items such as durable flooring, well-crafted furniture, and high-quality fixtures and finishes. By focusing on the foundational elements of their home, homeowners can create a solid design framework that can be easily updated and personalized as their tastes evolve over time.

Another important factor to consider is the return on investment of a renovation project. While it’s important to create a space that reflects individual tastes and lifestyle, it’s also wise to make choices that will ultimately increase the value of a home. This might involve focusing on high-impact areas such as the kitchen and bathroom, which tend to have a significant influence on resale value. Additionally, homeowners should consider energy efficiency, maintenance costs and market trends when making renovation decisions to maximize their ROI in the long run.
