Gabbert’s Design Studio & Fine Furniture
Jennifer Ball, Allied ASID
Senior interior designer
Most memorable project: A cattle ranch in Viroqua, Wisconsin. It was a complete renovation where I was challenged to maximize functional spaces within an existing footprint. The clients loved the overall result as it really reflected their personal style. We incorporated family antiques and heirlooms along with an updated rustic yet elegant style.
Single upgrade that makes a huge impact: Paint and wallpaper! Paint is the best and the least expensive way to make a huge impact and change the whole look and feel of a space. I also love to incorporate wallpaper into a home to create a unique style.
A classic that will never go out of style: Painted woodwork. It adds a beautiful warmth and depth to any room.
Top tip: Find a team of professionals, including a builder, architect and designer, who are willing to collaborate with you to create and execute your overall vision. Everyone brings a unique perspective and greatly contributes to the overall design.
Trend you love: I love the rustic mountain-living style that is trending right now. I love that you can mix so many design elements together, such as stone, rough timber and any number of metal finishes. It is warm, relaxing and always inviting.
Trend you’re over: White subway tile — I’m over it! However, if the client can’t live without it, I always find a way to give it a fresh look.
