For more than a decade, Fuse Minneapolis has built a reputation as a singular destination for luxury commercial furnishings in the Twin Cities. Located in a spacious and chic warehouse space in the historic International Market Square, the showroom welcomes clients from the architecture and design communities to experience everything from furniture and art to lighting and accessories firsthand. Including names like Knoll, Flexform, Vitra, Boyd Lighting, Bocci and DellaRobbia, the studio’s curated offerings hone in on heirloom pieces, partnering with global brands that share their passion for craftsmanship, iconic design and sustainability.
For years, husband-and-wife duo Ron and Christine Frisk had talked about starting a venture together while navigating independent careers. Ultimately, creating a showroom for high-end furnishings presented itself as a natural way to combine Ron’s expertise in sales and manufacturing with Christine’s extensive interior design experience in commercial and residential spaces. Jennifer Ruis, the showroom manager and also an interior designer, shares their passion for helping clients find perfect solutions for their projects. Avery Frisk, a musician by trade, grew up steeped in the world of design and furniture, so it was only natural for him to bring his talents and fresh perspective to the family business.
Everything the team does is examined and evaluated through the lens of three principles: beauty, honesty and sustainability. While they prioritize partnering with companies that are committed to responsible manufacturing processes — using biodegradable or recycled materials or creating reforesting programs — the quality and craftsmanship behind their product offering tells the ultimate sustainability story, curating heirloom pieces that are designed to be passed down and avoid landfills entirely. Many of their lines are legacy family-owned businesses that align with Fuse’s white-glove approach to service and unwavering quality standards. This thoughtful approach to partnership ensures that the designers and manufacturers they represent are exceptional examples of Fuse’s ethos.
The Fuse space itself is more than just a showroom. Early on, Fuse developed a relationship with MCAD to provide a beautiful space for alumni of the college to display their work and get exposure to potential clientele. The team also welcomes others to use it as a place for community gathering, hosting everything from philanthropic events to small conferences to local artist showcases. Connecting with the Twin Cities design community in these ways has been a priority for Ron and Christine from the beginning. “The Twin Cities is special because it has such a great design community — the designers, professionals and the people that appreciate it,” says Christine. “Fuse couldn’t happen anywhere else.”
