Don’t Miss Bountifield International’s Annual Spring Gala

Warm weather is returning, and so is Bountifield International’s annual spring gala. The Minneapolis-based nonprofit helps small-business farmers in sub-Saharan Africa overcome poverty and build community resilience through technology and agribusiness strategy. This year’s soiree will take place on Thursday, April 27, at St. Paul’s gorgeous Essence Event Center and will celebrate more than 40 years of impact in agriculture and food sustainability.

The extravaganza kicks off at 5 p.m., when guests will be greeted with a hibiscus welcome drink inspired by the Nigerian zobo beverage and escorted into the venue to take in the vibrant and festive decor and connect with fellow philanthropists. Back for their second year, Siama and Dallas return to perform upbeat Congolese music throughout the cocktail hour. Attractions include: live, silent and travel auctions; a photo booth; a history area; and a Love Letters calligraphy table sponsored by Centered Wealth. A special performance by the Titambe West African Dance Ensemble will lead party goers into dinner.

Delectable Ethiopian cuisine by Chowgirls and guest chef Rekik Abaineh of Bolé Ethiopian Cuisine will be served, followed by delicious desserts crafted by Harriet Brasserie. Former Minneapolis Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton is set to emcee the evening’s program. Featured guest speakers Bountifield CEO Alexandra Spieldoch and Kenya Team Leader Geoffrey Nyamota will share life-changing testimonies about how the organization’s work enables rural entrepreneurs to sustain their communities. The night will cap off with a live auction featuring private wine tastings, fly-fishing excursions and international trips.
