Boutique fitness is so back. And even though the class-format phenomenon has never gone away, the workouts now available feel more connected to helping clients achieve personal goals and gains than ever before. Atelier Pilates, a proud female-only studio, is a modern space for movement, strength and connection. The studio offers thoughtful and challenging classes that blend form and flow, helping clients build a deeper relationship with their bodies. Here, founder Hodan Malim shares a closer look at the inspiration behind the exciting Minneapolis fitness destination and a few tips for clients that may be nervous to try pilates for the first time.

What inspired you to launch Atelier Pilates?

I was inspired to create a studio that felt like more than just a workout. Pilates has always been such a grounding practice for me, and I wanted to bring that to life in an environment that feels elevated, calming and beautiful. My vision for Atelier Pilates was to create a space where people could move their bodies, connect with others and actually feel part of a community — like a little escape in the middle of Minneapolis.

In what ways does Atelier Pilates differ as a studio?

Atelier Pilates was created to feel like an experience, not just a class. The studio itself is bright, airy and serene. My hope is that from the moment clients walk in, they feel transported. Every detail has been intentionally designed, from the color palette to the layout, to create an elevated environment that feels restorative and inspiring. It’s a space where movement meets atmosphere, and that combination makes it truly unique and different from other studios.

Can you detail what types of experiences clients can expect?

Our instructors are what make Atelier Pilates so special. They’re knowledgeable, caring and passionate about supporting every client to feel their most confident and strong. Each class is led with intention and expertise, and we offer a variety of formats to suit everyone’s fitness journey. Our Foundations class is for those new to workout or returning to the reformer. Restorative Reformer aims to focus on groundedness while targeting often overlooked elements like stretching, making it ideal for runners or strength-training enthusiasts. Reformed is our most challenging class and really pushes physicality. At the end of every class, clients are offered a refreshing cold eucalyptus towel. No matter the format, the team ensures every guest leaves feeling sweaty, strong and more inspired than when they arrived.

What are some tips you can offer for someone that’s nervous about trying group fitness for the first time?

Trying group fitness for the first time can feel intimidating, but don’t be nervous. Once you’ve taken a class at Atelier, I can guarantee you’ll feel the difference. We’re a boutique fitness studio and the beauty of it is we’re a growing team. We take pride in creating an experience that people genuinely look forward to and we’ll know your name after your first visit. Our instructors are incredibly supportive and our community is welcoming to people with all kinds of fitness backgrounds. Everyone feels supported and included, so you can focus on your practice and enjoy the experience.
