Setting

The Langham sits along famed Fifth Avenue not far from beloved Big Apple attractions like the Empire State Building, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Station and Bryant Park. First opened in 2010, the hotel’s soaring glass structure by Gwathmey Siegel & Associates gives guests a bird’s-eye view of Midtown — letting visitors scope out the neighborhood’s prime dining, shopping and entertainment options. In short, you’re right at the heart of it all here.

Vibe

Two words: restrained sophistication. That’s not to say the Langham isn’t the lap of luxury — it absolutely is. There’s just no need to brag about it. The hotel feels opulent but not ostentatious. That’s an increasingly rare balance to strike in an era when everyone seems to be obsessed with showiness rather than substance. But with its origins in London and its ownership in Hong Kong, the Langham brand is built upon a classiness that will outlast the flashiness. The New York City hotel got a complete refresh in 2017, resulting in light-filled public spaces dotted by Alex Katz artwork.

Claim to Fame

Given its ideal locale, discreet service and roomy guest accommodations, the Langham is a favorite among musicians on tour, pro athletes playing at nearby Madison Square Garden, actors in town for premieres and press junkets (often held at the hotel), and other public figures. Celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Sylvester Stallone and tennis star Alexander Zverev have all been spotted here. Unsurprisingly, the property is also a frequent backdrop for photo and video shoots, like a recent Rachel McAdams fashion editorial.

Amenities

Although the hotel attracts notable guests, everyone feels like a star here — from families and four-legged friends to brides and business travelers — thanks to the Langham’s unparalleled amenities. That includes pet-friendly guest rooms, inspiring meeting and event spaces, a well-equipped fitness center, and fun activations like a cobranded Dylan’s Candy Bar cart sure to satisfy all sweet cravings. But the most alluring offering here is hands-down the Langham Club, which puts all other club lounges to shame. The secluded fourth floor sanctuary offers five daily culinary presentations, superb service and Fifth Avenue views.

The Rooms

Manhattan hotel rooms can be described in many terms, but “spacious” isn’t often one of them. The 234 guest accommodations at the Langham — which clock in at an average 750 square feet — are the exception to that rule. All rooms boast plush Duxiana beds, marble bathrooms and cityscape views. The hotel’s 57 suites are particularly special, with select spaces featuring extras such as Roche Bobois furnishings, full kitchens with Miele appliances, and unreal Empire State Building vistas through floor-to-ceiling windows. Visitors checking into the Presidential Suite also have access to private chef service from flagship eatery Ai Fiori.

Dining

From the enviable post at the Langham, you’ve got easy access to some of the city’s best dining. But you needn’t leave the hotel to experience world-class cuisine. Perched up on the second level, flagship eatery Ai Fiori offers Italian favorites along with that legendary New York City service that’s hard to come by these days. It’s the type of place where you can luxuriate for a couple hours — martini in hand — and savor caviar service, artisanal cheeses, housemade pastas and a New York strip. We’ll toast to that.
