Earlier this year, JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa celebrated its fifth annual Relish the Heritage Food, Wine & Music Festival, hosting the best of the best in culinary arts, handcrafted spirits and wines, and music inspired by Los Cabos’ cultural heritage, honoring the Baja and Yucatán peninsulas.

“JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa is the ideal backdrop for a luxury event, set amongst the desert, the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean, featuring modern architecture highlighting its natural surroundings, and rich with local traditions,” explains General Manager Miguel Mestas. “It’s because of this culture and heritage that we decided to create the Relish the Heritage Food, Wine & Music Festival, and we’re pleased to honor both the Baja Peninsula and the Yucatán Peninsula.

The foodie-centric weekend kicked off its festivities at the resort’s Nak Grill & Bar with traditional Yucatán beverage tastings and a performance by Merida City’s premier genre-bending musical group, Gina Osorno & the Dreamers. Rounding out the first night under the stars with a Baja bang, executive chef Pablo Hildebrando’s “Encounter Between Peninsulas” dinner let guests indulge in every category of cuisine with each section devoted entirely to showcasing one of the elements: earth, wind, fire and air.

Saturday’s celebration kicked off at the architecturally dreamy Sum San Amphitheater as the sun was setting with hors d’oeuvres and a wine tasting highlighting some of Mexico’s most acclaimed wineries, including Valle de Guadalupe, Monte Xanic and Quinta Monasterio. Amplifying the evening’s seaside energy, the chamber music ensemble from the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra serenaded attendees with an exclusive performance of traditional Yucatán repertoire.

The standout moment of the weekend was when award-winning chef Thierry Blouet of Café des Artistes and his guest, Jonatán Gómez Luna of Le Chique, prepared an incredible six-course meal paired with Mexican wines and centered around signature creations honoring the dual peninsulas.

Other exclusive opportunities throughout the weekend included experiencing Los Cabos’ greatest charm on a whale-watching excursion afloat on the Sea of Cortez, a private tour and picnic at the organic farm where Café des Artistes sources all of its fresh produce, and a relaxing massage at JW Marriott’s breathtaking Jasha Spa.
