Celebrate Pride and the exceptional historical and creative cultural contributions made by the 2SLGBTQIA+ community through art, stories, virtual events and more at Mia, curated by the museum’s 2SLGBTQIA+ Staff Work Group. The museum acknowledges that Pride is a celebration of the decades-long fight, often led by trans women of color, that got us to where we are today. Here are 3 ways you can celebrate Pride with Mia throughout the month of June.

Explore the Art

Mia’s diverse and extensive collection features works by queer artists depicting individuals from the community with themes related to queerness and identity.

Connect with the Community

Art has the ability to connect us to ourselves, one another and our world. Practicing self-care and creating a healthy relationship with ourselves helps us better connect with and support others.

Listen to The Object Podcast

Mia’s podcast explores the surprising true stories behind a variety of works throughout the museum’s collection. The Pride episode focuses on Victorian artist Simeon Solomon. When scandal threatened his career, Solomon had to choose between his livelihood and his identity.
